“ I got started in yoga when I was a child. My mother went to yoga classes and I started practicing. I didn’t even think much of it (and thank God I went to a Quaker school), in fifth grade when I sat in lotus position for an hour on the classroom floor to celebrate Buddha’s birthday. Buddha was unattached to my celebration:)”
Public Class: Saturday 9:30 AM Where: JOURNEY YOGA 444 North 10th Street
I was first trained as a teacher at a yoga studio Easton, Massachusetts, in late the 90’s when Yoga Alliance was just starting up. I taught at Easton, Omega Institute, and in Ruchmond, Indiana.
I retrained in 2013 at Asheville Yoga Center and started teaching regularly at Beatree Yoga, IU East, and Earlham. Beatree closed last year and is now Journey Yoga. I have studied with TKV Desikachar, Gary Kraftsow, Madan Bali, Mark Whitwell and many others. My classes are defined (if one can define them) as Gentle Flow and I include activities from Brain Yoga, Tai Chi and Feldenkrais. I am presently studying Pranayama through Yoga on High in Columbus, Ohio.
My vision is that students take what they learn about themselves on the mat out into their lives.
My class at Journey Yoga is open to the public. The first class at the studio is free and the costs vary after that. Drop-ins are $11 and Earlham and IU East students pay $5.
